While most of us look forward to a nice mixed concoction for cocktail hour, your body yearns for a different kind of cocktail, a Myers’ Cocktail. A Myers’ Cocktail delivers various important nutrients through an intravenous drip at Affirm. The Myers’ Cocktail is just one of our infusion offerings.
What is a Myers’ Cocktail?
The Myers’ Cocktail is named for the late John Myers, M.D., a Maryland physician who invented the mix of nutrients that he then delivered to his patients through intravenous injections. He used the intravenous mix to treat many chronic conditions with his patients. The idea is to deliver important nutrients intravenously, bypassing the digestive system where the potency of many supplements taken orally is degraded.
What is in a Myers’ Cocktail?
At Affirm, our Myers’ Cocktail mix includes:
- B Vitamins
- Vitamin C
What do patients use the Myers’ Cocktail to treat?
Our patients love the Myers’ Cocktail for a variety of different reasons. Some people like the feeling of giving their bodies the vitamins needed directly. They feel this delivers an energy boost that lasts. We have some patients who use the cocktail to increase athletic performance before a big event. Others look to the cocktail to help with chronic problems, such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, migraine headaches, sinusitis, allergies, and the chronic pain of fibromyalgia.
How is the Myers’ Cocktail given?
At Affirm Health Center, our Myers’ Cocktail is just one the IV therapy infusions that we offer. You sit in a comfortable chair and we insert a small catheter into a vein. The Myers’ Cocktail is then delivered through drip infusion very slowly over a 20-30 minute period. When you’re done, you can get right back to your normal activities or work.
Patients usually opt for a Myers’ Cocktail once or twice a week at the beginning of their treatment, then change to once or twice a month from there.
