Ingredient Spotlight: Retinol

What is Retinol?

Retinol is a heavily researched and frequently used form of vitamin A mainly known for its anti-aging benefits. But retinol can be used for a wide variety of skin care concerns. For example, it can help smooth skin texture, renew skin barrier, and minimize sensitivity. It can also be used to reduce clogged pores, breakouts, and skin congestion. Or even to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What to expect:

It is important to remember that results aren’t instant. Skin tolerance has to be gradually built up over time. Which means skin can experience redness and flakiness while adjusting to Retinol. Retinol should be integrated into a nighttime routine. If used in the morning, an SPF of 50 is required as well. Retinol should be used 2-3 times a week and can be increased if tolerance develops. For best effects, pair the treatment with a hydrating crème or serum.
