We Offer Bioidentical Hormone Replacement

Our hormones regulate most of the functions in our bodies. They are chemical messengers that travel throughout the body and coordinate everything from growth to metabolism to fertility.

But as we age, especially after women pass menopause, our glands produce less of certain hormones and this can lead to imbalances. These are what lead to hot flashes and weight gain in women. In men, decreased hormone levels can lead to loss of libido and fatigue.

At Affirm Health Center, we offer bioidentical hormone therapy to help our patients overcome hormone imbalance. Here’s some more information about this program.

What are bioidentical hormones?

The system we offer at Affirm Health Center uses bioidentical hormones. Derived from plant estrogens, these hormones are identical to those your body produces, hence the bioidentical name. These bioidentical hormones match your body’s estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.

What is pellet therapy?

It’s amazing, our hormone replacement therapy can change the way our patients feel with just a bioidentical hormone pellet the size of an uncooked grain of rice. That’s right. A tiny pellet is inserted under the skin of the upper buttocks. The pellet then delivers a consistent level of hormone to the patient through the day, bypassing interaction with the liver that comes with hormones taken orally. Each pellet delivers benefits for 3-4 months.

What happens during the insertion of the bioidentical pellet?

The insertion of the bioidentical pellet takes only a few minutes in our Springfield offices. We first use a small amount of local anesthetic to numb the insertion site, usually on the upper buttocks. A tiny incision is then made and the pellet is inserted under it. The incision is covered with a small bandage and the procedure is complete.
